I had an amazing experience recently. I went to the Gatornationals. This was my first time ever to experience “live” drag racing. All I can say is WOW!!! Let me share what I learned from drag racing that relates to life...
First, it is not how you start, but how you finish. I was amazed to see that in some races, the car that got off the line first, still got beat. Even in a race of less than 4 seconds, I witnessed some cars “catching up”. If a dragster can “catch up” in less than 4 seconds, in life, so can you!
Second, even though there is only one driver in the car, it is still all about the team surrounding that one driver. Even after the “burnout” of each car and seconds away from the start of the race, the team was still making adjustments to the car. In life, you may feel like you are going at it solo, but don’t be deceived, let a group of people be a “team” around you to ensure your success in life.
Third, drag racing is not a passive spectator sport. If you are in the stands, you FEEL it as the cars rumble by at 300+ mph! A friend of mine who won the Gatornationals in the Alcohol division of Dragster’s years ago said it this way - “it feels like the car is going through you as it passes by.” Life is no different, feelings were given to you for a reason. Life is meant to be “felt” both in the positive and negative.
Finally, drag racing was something new that I had never experienced before, but sure am glad that I did - I now can’t wait till next year! Life is no different. Every day we have the opportunity to experience new things, especially if we are followers of Jesus! Say yes to the new experiences Jesus brings your way today and everyday.
